DANCE OUTREACH

Dance outreach increases exposure to dance within the community. It is concerned with getting dance out there and getting more people in the community to positively engage in dance. This can be achieved through dance educational projects with schools and other organizations in the community.

Past WYDmoves outreach projects include the very successful BLAST project for transition year students, and also the SAY NO programme that visited many primary and secondary schools in Waterford.

In February 2010 WYDmoves will visit local primary schools to deliver workshops promoting dance and movement as a way of getting active and having fun. Also coming this year is the Arts Day for secondary schools that will give the chance for students to sample each of the art forms facilitated by WYA.

By putting dance in the spotlight, through outreach and performance, people can see the importance of dance and make it relevant to their own lives.
