Waterford Youth Arts together with Fighting Words are excited to tell you about our new venture together to bring Fighting Words Waterford to students of primary and post primary schools in Waterford!
Waterford Youth Arts is one of the largest and longest established youth arts organizations in Ireland. It is a youth and community arts resource which encourages young people to participate in creative activity as a means of self-expression in a safe, professional and fun environment.
Fighting Words was established by Roddy Doyle and Sean Love with the aim to help children and young people to discover and harness the power of their own imaginations and creative writing skills.
Fighting Words provides free programming in creative writing to children and young people in a range of experiences, all over the country.
Both organizations are partnering to bring exciting writing experiences to students and young people in Waterford.
Fighting Words Waterford is focused on supporting children and young people to tell their own stories at their own pace. These workshops are not only beneficial for students’ creativity, but help develop writing skills and self-confidence, which they can take with them and apply to their daily lives both inside and outside of the classroom.
Our Workshops: Our workshops are free of charge and run for two hours with a ten minute break halfway through!
Where? We invite your class to visit our spaces provided by Waterford Youth Arts! Fighting Words Waterford coordinators will work with the teachers to narrow down dates, times and a suitable venue.

Our Team: Our workshops are run by Fighting Words/Waterford Youth Arts facilitators and volunteer mentors who are Garda vetted, interviewed and reference checked!
